Plant Metallurgist - Copper Smelter

Our Client operates one of the largest mining operations in Australia

A vacancy exists within the Copper Smelter for a Plant Metallurgist.  Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist, you will be required to review daily performance, identify opportunities to further improve the operations of the smelter and work with operations and maintenance personnel to implement change. 

You will be responsible for identifying projects to further improve smelter performance.  Plan and execute improvement projects, including interactions with operating personnel.  Analysing data, preparing reports and presentations on findings will form part of your role as will providing technical support in the daily operations of the smelter.

The Plant Metallurgist will assist and provide full support to the Production Superintendent to achieve safety, environmental and production targets as well as up-skilling the knowledge of the plant operators.

We are looking for people with good leadership, communication and problem solving skills and an ability to exercise initiative and contribute significantly to the performance and success of the operations and maintain focus through difficult times.

Requirements:        
  • 2-5 years experience as a Metallurgist in a processing plant, smelter experience will be well regarded       
  • Degree in Extractive Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or Mineral Processing    
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills      
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft Office
