Our client a mid-tier ASX listed gold explorer is about to start the construction phase of their gold asset in Sumatera Indonesia. The construction Phase should commence in the first quarter of 2013 but they already now would like to recruit for the vacancy General Manager Operations so that the incumbent will form early part of the key decision making matrix.

Key Accountabilities:
  • To work together with the construction manager and others to develop the contract of works from a bankable study to operating a 1MTPA Gold Mine;
  • To be responsible for all aspects of ore mining and the processing plant including logistics etc;
  • To be responsible for influencing the mining and operations teams by use of appropriate interpersonal skills and methods that inspire and guide the team members towards goal achievement, team behaviour to accept accountability for identified tasks, situations, and to foster an environment of continuous improvement;
  • To interact with internal and external stakeholders such as finance, environment and community, OH&S, human resources, security, supply teams, maintenance teams and sub-contractors;
  • Develop, implement and report on budgets, controls and systems;
Qualifications and Experience
  • Tertiary qualifications in a Mining or Mineral Processing Engineering with substantial gold exposure;
  • +10 years of experience in managing mine technical services, mine production and a CIL mineral processing plant;
  • Previous experience in an Indonesia senior operational role;
  • High availability, team focussed with a strong influential capacity, and have good interpersonal relations at all levels.
