Principal Specialist, Material Management

Overall Purpose of Job:

• Under General Supervision (including oversight of a specific area and the formulation of policy without final authority) by Material Management of [Company] or its subsidiaries (indicated as “the Company”), the purpose of this position is to perform the essential job duties and functions listed below with the overall objective of delivering value through world-class procurement and material management systems, capabilities, and processes by leveraging advanced sourcing methods; global market knowledge and [Company]  global purchasing volume to obtain the best pricing, quality and service for our clients

Primary Job Duties/Functions:

• Under general supervision, plans and executes the material control, procurement, logistics, or inspection activities associated with commodities or engineered equipment, systems, or materials in support of project operations
• Under general supervision, assists in the handling of complex material control, procurement, logistics, or inspection functions or plans, and executes those functions within established Material Management Plans, policies and procedures
• Procures engineered equipment and materials in accordance with the Material Management Plan
• Uses corporate material management resources to support project operations
• Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:

• On-site project workspace of various conditions which may include temporary office facilities and exposure to moving, mechanical parts and vibration; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and various levels of outside weather, and/or
• Generally favorable indoor office workspace

Basic Job Requirements

• College degree from an accredited university preferred
• Previous experience in procurement of engineered equipment
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent negotiation skills
• Excellent leadership and decision-making skills
• Excellent computer literacy and skills

Other Job Requirements

• Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing and email as well as the intermediate use of spreadsheets and electronic presentations
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• High critical thinking/reasoning ability
