Sr. Extrusion Process Engineer

Job Description

• [Company] in Aurora, OH has an opening for a Sr. Extrusion Process Engineer. The Aurora Plant manufactures thermoplastic hose and tubing for use in a variety of market applications such as: Oil & Gas, Hydraulics, Beverage, and Truck.
• The primary function of the position is to design, coordinate, and implement new extrusion manufacturing processes. The position also provides extrusion engineering expertise to manufacturing issues and is also responsible for project management of additions to and modification of facilities and equipment needed to support the plant's business objectives.

Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:

• Recommend and implement yearly capital plan
• Recommend and implement yearly Cost Out plan
• Provide technical support to production manufacturing issues
• Establish process requirements for transfer of new process and design information to manufacturing, which includes all manufacturing documentation
• Identify and implement process improvement opportunities
• Design, develop, and provide training to operators in the extrusion process
• Design and implement manufacturing equipment and tooling
• Maintain equipment supplier contacts to keep current with emerging technologies
• Lead and / or manage continuous improvement projects using cross-functional teams

Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements):

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited institution required

Minimum 3 years of manufacturing engineering experience required

Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

Position Criteria:

• Significant experience with day to day application of extrusion manufacturing policies and procedures
• Significant experience with positive employee relations policies and programs
• Strong customer focus and interpersonal skills
• Strong ethics, values and the ability to influence and impact others’ decision making
• Practical understanding of policy and program impact on the business
• Ability to deal with ambiguity, to solve problems, and to make decisions
• Use of 3D modeling software such as Pro-Engineer, AutoCAD, Solid Works, or equivalent

Preferred:

• Advanced degree in Chemical Engineering, Plastics, or in Polymer Sciences preferred
• Cross functional project team management experience preferred
• Prefer exposure to plastic extrusion manufacturing best practices
• Prefer experience with capital planning
• Prefer exposure to lean manufacturing and formal problem solving tools
