Product Engineer - Gear Pump

• Job Description
• [Company] located in Eden Prairie, MN has an opening for a product engineer. Incumbent will provide product design engineering support to existing hydraulic gear pumps and low speed high torque hydraulic motors.

The main job duties of the role include:

• Collaborate with [Company] Sales, [Company] Marketing, and the end customer to resolve performance/reliability deficiencies with existing products, apply existing products into new platforms, modify existing products to meet customer requirements, and conduct customer prototype qualification testing.
• Collaborate with the manufacturing and supply chain functions to resolve design related manufacturability issues. Disposition material that does not conform to product specifications.
• Collaborate with the supply chain and manufacturing functions to conduct qualification testing of new suppliers, tooling, and processes to ensure continued supply of cost effective and high quality products.
• Initiate project plans, which include the schedule actions and the resources required to meet the project objectives. Execute projects according to the established plan.
• Write effective test requests for technicians to execute. Analyze results and clearly summarize the findings in technical reports.
• Perform and document design calculations, generate CAD layouts, and verify all necessary tolerance stack ups for new designs and design revisions.
• Initiate the generation of new ideas and document them appropriately for possible patent protection or to reserve as trade secrets.

Preferred Experience:

• M.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience working with customers.
• Experience with the design and application of hydraulic components.
• Experience with the design of hydraulic systems
• Experience working with global cultures.
• Project management experience.

Position Criteria:

• Excellent problem solving skills
• Good teaming, written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in the use of CAD modeling using ProEngineer.
• Proficient in the use of FEA using Ansys.

Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements)

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
• Internship experience in an engineering function
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
• Qualified candidates must reside within 50 miles of the Hydraulics Group Headquarters in Eden Prairie, MN
