Principal Geotechnical Engineer/2IC - Mining - Melbourne

My Client is a small specialist Geotechnical Consultancy that focuses on the Mining Sector. A young company they have built a reputation in the industry and as a result workload has increased with various national and international clients seeking their expertise. They are now looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to take on a management role, so that they can continue to expand and service the increase in demand. 

The client works on a range of small to large projects across Australia and other parts of the world. The role will involve:
  • Open cut and underground mine Geotechnics 
  • Undertaking Geotechnical investigation, design and analysis work
  • preparation of: cost estimates, tender submissions, technical documentation, client reports and monitoring project progress
  • project scheduling/resourcing, and meeting deadlines and budgets.
  • Managing geotechnical engineers and engineering geologists
  • Involved in managing and building on client relationships 
  • Provide technical advice and expertise in mining geotechnical engineering
The ideal candidate will have circa 10 years experience in the Mining industry with a relevant qualification. Experience of, or ready to take on the responsibility of a management role. You will also have knowledge and experience in:
  • Mining/Geotechnical Engineering and Rock Mechanics
  • Proven ability in technical aspects of mining and geotechnical design
  • Ability to use relevant software packages
  • Excellent verbal, written communications skills
  • Working in a team and autonomously  
  • Willing to travel
