HSE Manger

Our client is recruiting a HSE Manager for its flagship operation in Central Asia. Reporting to the Project Director, the HSE Manager will be overseeing the implementation of all aspects of project related Environmental, Safety, and Health (ES&H), processes, plans, procedures, systems, methods and policies critical to the success of ES&H on the project.

Some of the accountabilities attributed to this role are to:
  • Oversee the establishment of the Health & Safety function on site 
  • Provide leadership, direction and motivate the management team and workforce to achieve results and targets set by the Project Director. 
  • Drive continuous improvement and challenge and reduce costs, measuring and reporting key metrics internally and externally in a timely manner 
  • Lead the development and implementation of sustainable Health & Safety management systems 
  • Develop and maintain occupational health and safety standards relevant to operations 
  • Lead safety performance and clearly articulate to all how ongoing safety improvements will be achieved 
  • Ensure systems and mechanisms are operating efficiently and effectively with a constant focus on compliance to all relevant legislative, company Business Unit policies, procedures and requirements 
  • Develop strategies to prevent, minimise, mitigate and/or remediate harmful effects of mining on the environment 
  • Ensure that necessary licenses and permits are obtained if required under the environmental regulations 
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
  • 15-20 years HSE experience on large capital projects.
  • Degree qualification in any discipline and technical qualifications in HSE matters eg NEBOSH.
  • Experience in development and mentoring of local nationals.
  • Cold weather experience, preferably in remote areas.
  • Cultural awareness.
  • Previous experience in an expatriate role.
