Principal Civil/Structural Engineer

The customer is a EPCM Mining project management house based in Cape Town

This is a long term contract position

Required Outputs:

• Management of the civil/structural discipline function
• Signoff of Civil/structural designs
• Managing design and implementation of engineering and technology assignments with focus on system integration as well as conceptual design, scoping, and risk assessment
• Providing a Civil/Structural engineering service in a mining environment
• Providing an electrical suppport role in large capital projects like establishing of new mines
• Ensuring compliance to legal requirements, quality standards and engineering standards and practices
• Application of electronics and electrical systems in hazardous areas, including fameproofing and intrinsic safety
• Interpretation of mechanical flow diagrams, process diagrams reticulation diagrams, single line diagrams and cicuit diagrams

General

• Minimum development of Managing others - managing managers preferred
• interface with internal and external clients, specific industry specialist/consultants
• Supporting team activities
• management of Civil/Structural project risks in terms of technology, time cost scope

Requirements:

• BSc (Eng) / BEng (Civil/Structural)
• GCC (Mines) advantageous
• Registered as Professional Engineer or in process of registering
• Computer literate: Excel/Word/Power Point, Strand7, AutoCAD Inventor , Prokon or similar
• Valid driver's license

Specifics:

• 8 to 10 years post graduate industry experience
• People Management skills (manage sub-contractors/partners)
• Applicable diamond/gold/coal mining experience (advantageous)
• On site construction inspection/supervision (advantageous)
• Knowledge and application of civil and structural design in process plant and mine infrastructure - civil and plant structures
• Knowledge of civil and structural standards, applicable SANS and international standards
