Procurement Superintendent

Purpose of the job:

• An international mining company is seeking to appoint dedicated, experienced Procurement Superintendent - Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager.

Key responsibilities:

• Our client is currently seeking to employ a Procurement Superintendent for the open pit gold mining operations with a Heap Leach Metallurgical plant.
• Using skills, knowledge and experience, focus on effective execution of the construction schedule for the project.
• Excellence is pursued throughout the Procurement and Expediting processes by implementing approved control and measurement processes.
• Maintain a safe and friendly environment
• Ensure that effective asset management, construction and maintenance standards, policies and procedures are strictly adhered to in compliance with the company’s Mine Management Principles and Quality Control Standards.

Key requirements:

• Effective execution of the construction schedule for excellence throughout the Procurement and Expediting processes by implementing approved control and measurement processes
• Maintain a safe and friendly environment
• Ensure that effective asset management, construction and maintenance standards, policies and procedures are strictly adhered to in compliance with the company’s Mine Management Principles and Quality Control Standards
• Recognised Tertiary qualifications in Procurement and Commercial;
• Recognised Supervisory development and qualifications;
• Comprehensible understanding of Supply Chain Management practices;
• Medical fitness for the position and environment;
• A hands on approach and be willing to work long hours to obtain the required results;
• Meet diverse challenges within the broad scope of the Procurement and Expediting in particular within the construction environment in the remote parts of Africa;
• Competent computer skills;
• Cross cultural sensitivity with the ability to guide, develop, coach and mentor inexperienced personnel;
• A valid driver’s licence.
• minimum of five years’ experience working as a Buyer and/or expediter on a construction site;

Key Performance Area’s

• Assists the Supply Chain Manager to develop and optimise Procurement and Expediting Procedures and Standards;
• Execute effective management by planning, organizing, leading and controlling all resources within appointed area;
• Maintain good housekeeping standards within areas of responsibly;
• Identifies problems within the technical aspects (procurement, crating, packing, storing, freighting, clearing, reporting, etc), advice on remedial action and assist with implementation through the application of a hands-on coaching and training approach;
• Partakes in employee development program of departmental staff by using a competency based training system;
• Investigates cost saving and productivity improvement initiatives on specially assigned projects, advice on action plan and manage project accordingly.
