Geospatial Data Technician – Mining

My Client, a large mining company, is looking for a Geospatial Data Technician to join their team on a contract basis. The Contract will run for 8 months with the high potential for extension. This position is based out of Sudbury, Ontario.

Responsibilities:

• Input, collect, process, archive and retrieve exploration (Geophysical) Geospatial data or samples and enter or process them into the computer
• Maintain established procedures in the collection and processing of all exploration Geospatial data
• Must review processed data to verify for accuracy, documentation and analysis as warranted - all results will be reported and entered
• Will be using a variety of different software’s in order to complete all data entry in a timely fashion

Qualifications:

• The ideal candidate will possess a post-secondary education – college preferred – in Geographic Information Systems
• 6-18 months of experience in a similar role would be considered a strong asset
• Understanding of GIS systems – Geographic Information Systems
• Strong computer skills – Archview and Geosoft would be considered an asset
• Ability to work with various technologies and tools that pertain to geospatial data
• Strong attention to detail
• First Aid and WHMIS Training would be considered an asset
