Position Summary:

  • Reports to the Drilling Area Manager.  Responsible for the following:
  • As a member of the drill crew, operate applicable drill equipment in a safe, reliable, timely and professional manner.  Participate in drill operator training program.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare and maintain all records and reports concerning drilling activities, including safety, in order to assure accurate billing, regulatory compliance and performance history.
  • Report all incidents and hazardous conditions to appropriate supervisors. Participate in incident investigations including flying rock, unsatisfactory service or products, as determined by the region management and Loss Control Board.
  • Comply with Loss Control Board mandates in support of the implementation of all policies improving the quality of drilling services and limiting liability exposure related to drilling activities.
  • Support the implementation and use of Take 5! to promote personal responsibility for safety.   Proactively handle safety issues, and participate/conduct safety meetings in support of loss control goals.
  • Knowledgeable of, and compliance with applicable DOT, OSHA, MSHA, EPA regulations, and governing agencies.
  • Comply with appropriate areas of the HSE Management System.
  • Perform advanced work of a similar nature to that of subordinates in order to ensure the completion of assigned work.
  • Understand and enhance service requirements to continually improve customer profitability and satisfaction.
  • Report and participate in the investigation of complaints and poor performing blasts according to the CDR process.
  • Knowledge and compliance to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) to maintain safe working conditions on and near the drill site to assure that all drill crew members and others follow all safety and regulatory procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned within the capabilities of the successful candidate, as determined by management.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Minimum 1 year of mechanical, drilling and/or related industry work experience
  • Thorough knowledge of drilling techniques and industry standards/practices.
