Senior Resource Geologist

Our client is an underground base and precious metals mine operating in Western Australia. They currently have an opening for a Senior Resource Geologist to join their team.

Reporting to the Chief Geologist, you will assist with the effective functioning of the Mine Geology team. This involves ensuring the timely generation of geological resource estimations and that all geological models and associated data are stored correctly and properly validated for accuracy.

Responsibilities in this role include, but are not limited to:
  • Coordinating the completion of digital geological models in consultation with the Project Mine Geologist-Resources;
  • Generating geological resource block models to a timeline that is integrated with mine planning and Corporate requirements;
  • Providing detailed geological advice to other Departments;
  • Supervision and mentoring of the Geological Database Administrator;
  • Supervision, training and mentoring of the Mine and Resource Geologists;
  • Managing the geological data management and data quality control process; 
  • Providing monthly and other technical reports and associated documentation.
To be considered for this role you will possess:
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Geology;
  • 7 – 10 years experience primarily in an underground environment;
  • A strong understanding of the JORC code;
  • Ability to sign off resources as a competent person;
  • Drill program planning and implementation experience;
  • Solid knowledge of geostatistics and variography;
  • Strong computer skills with mining software, ideally Vulcan;
  • The ability to successfully lead and motivate teams of people.
This position is offered on a FIFO basis, from either Perth or Geraldton, on an 8/6 roster. While on site you will be housed in a comfortable, modern camp, with the comforts of home. An attractive salary package, including relocation, is available for the right applicant.
