Senior Mining Engineer - Iron Ore - FIFO from Perth

Located 175 kilometres east of Geraldton, my clients site is a modern efficient mining operation and is already operating at its targeted hematite production rate of 3 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa).

Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent this senior position will suit an experienced open cut mining engineer who wishes to lead by example and make a real difference in the final stages of an operating mine. The position will provide pivotal engineering support across the operation, involving production, planning and design work on site to achieve the life of mine plan.

Responsibilities will include:

• Providing engineering services to the Mining Manager and General Manager as required 
• Coordinate engineering activities with production teams, surveyors, geologists, drill and blast and contractor teams 
• Supervising and Leading Mining Engineers and Graduate Mining Engineers 
• Carry out pit and dump design work, planning, scheduling and project work as required 
• Act as a delegate to the Mining Manager when he is off site including statutory coverage as Alternate Quarry Manager. 

To be successful in this role you will need an excellent grasp of hard rock mining requirements; be flexible in your approach and be able to deal with a role that will vary from day to day.

Essential Requirements: 

• Tertiary Qualifications in Mining Engineering or equivalent 
• Senior First Aid Ticket 
• Unrestricted Quarry Managers ticket 
• 5-10 years plus hard rock mining experience, preferably within an Australian Operation 
• Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines 
• Well developed leadership, interpersonal and communication skills 
• Strong safety focus 

This role will be FIFO from Perth on a suitable 8:6 commuting roster - day shift only. Excellent remuneration and working conditions are available to the right candidate. This will be a 12 month contract with the option to transfer to another site once completion has occurred.
