Mined Land Reclamation Specialist
Description and Desired Qualifications
- Be part of world-class technical teams delivering environmental services to restore mining-impacted lands. Our Mined Land Reclamation Specialist positions are your opportunity to help our clients manage their natural resources; minimizing environmental impacts associated with active mine operations, and restoring environmentally impaired sites. You will support mine closure/remediation projects in addition to mining environmental projects for active and expanding operations, utilizing your understanding of a broad range of reclamation work approaches and technologies. You should be a self-motivated, team-focused individual with a minimum BS or MS degree in Soil Science, Rangeland Ecology, or Environmental Engineering; have a successful 10-20 year track record with a focus on mining projects, and have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each mining assignment.
Our Reclamation Specialists:
- Provide technical expertise related to mined land reclamation; including evaluating and applying proven technologies to stabilization and containment of mining wastes, and habitat restoration at hard rock and energy minerals mines
- Plan, execute and manage tasks for mine reclamation projects involving field investigations to characterize mine waste and other mining-impacted lands, bench- and pilot-scale testing of candidate reclamation technologies, feasibility and detailed engineering design for mine reclamation and closure, and long-term operation and maintenance of reclaimed lands
- Support projects for both private and government clients
- Understand regulatory requirements related to mined land reclamation, and interface effectively with regulatory agencies on behalf of clients
- Lead and support safety programs and procedures
- Complete tasks within schedule and budget constraints
- Lead and/or support the preparation of technical reports
- Assist in client/market development efforts, and lead the development of reclamation practices
- Interact with a broad variety of clients and multi-disciplinary [Company] project teams across multiple geographies
- Maintain professional licensure and safety training certifications, as appropriate
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum BS degree in Soil Science, Rangeland Ecology, or Environmental Engineering; or related applied sciences field
- At least 10 years of experience, with a focus on mined land reclamation
- Strong understanding of mine operations and familiarity with accepted mined land reclamation practices
- Experience with performing or interpreting results of bench- and pilot-scale testing of reclamation technologies
- Experience in preparing feasibility and detailed engineering design documentation associated with reclamation plans
- HAZWOPER and/or MSHA certification or ability to obtain
- General project delivery experience for mining environmental projects
