Job Description

  • [Company] Operations includes two open pit mines and processing facilities in Northern MN ([Company] in Mt. Iron and [Company] in Keewatin) and has the following vacancy at the [Company] facility:

Mechanical Maintenance Shift Manager:

  • This position reports directly to the Area Manager of Agglomerator Maintenance. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, overseeing the mechanical maintenance crews in the Agglomerator Maintenance Department, working with other departments and contractors to schedule and perform required maintenance on equipment and develop plans for upgrades and improvements of equipment to increase reliability. This position is also responsible for administering the U. S. Steel Safety program to ensure a safe work environment within the assigned facility. The candidate must be an independent individual with the ability to recognize and make decisions that effect mechanical maintenance improvements with little input from other managers and also have the ability to troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade mechanical systems in the plant facility.

Requirements:

  • The position requires a Bachelor's or technical college degree in Mechanical Maintenance or Mechanical Engineering plus two or more years of like work experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment although candidates with strong related experience in industrial/manufacturing environments or equivalent training are encouraged to apply. The preferred candidate will be knowledgeable in taconite mining including agglomerating operations as well as have a strong mechanical background. The candidate must also have supervisory experience in a production environment.
  • All successful candidates are subject to background checks, pre-employment physical examinations, and drug and alcohol screening.
