Mining Engineer-Coal

My client in the Mining Industry is seeking the expertise of a Mining Engineer-Coal to join their team and assist with Mining Design, Mine Evaluation and Project Management

Responsibilities:

• Mining Design and Drafting
• Manage design Mining resources
• Manage the Mining design tasks to ensure that Mining designs are carried out in accordance with client standards and specification documentation, industry norms and the relevant legislation
• Ensure the effective review and approval ofMining design and engineering
• Develop improved work practices and ensure familiarity with new mining technologies

Project Management

• Liaise and co-ordinate with the client, project manager and engineers of other disciplines to ensure adherence to project and client requirements and specifications
• Manage the schedule (time), cost, quality and scope on all Mining contracts on the project
• Manage the Mining Site Supervisors to ensure that Mining contractors perform to project safety, environmental and quality requirements
• Effectively utilise company resources
• Accurately mark-up designs for drafting personnel
• Ensure Quality standards adhered to by checking accuracy of work before it gets issued
• Advise, monitor and control all Mining site staff and contractors on behalf of the Site Project Manager
• Assure the client and project manager that the design, erection, testing and commissioning of a Mining installation, under his charge, complies with all safety and statutory requirements
• Act within the framework of Mining contracts under his/her management
• Manage high level of risks within project in regard to engineering processes, systems, equipment and infrastructure

Experience and Qualifications:

• Either BSc Eng (Mining). BEng (Mining), BTech (Mining) or NHD (Mining) with Mine Manager’s certificate (Coal) optional but recommended
• Professional registration or eligibility
• Safety knowledge
• 5 years’ experience in Mining engineering
• Coal Mining
• Good understanding of mining methods, geology, survey, ventilation, rock engineering, project management in preferably coal mining
