Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but is not necessarily limited to the following:
- Develop and grow specialized transmission line design group including standard processes and deliverables.
- May serve as project manager for design-build transmission line projects.
- Define design criteria, conceptual design, design calculations and insulation design for Projects.
- Perform and/or oversee routing studies and conductor selection studies for various projects.
- Proficient in the design and specification of wood and steel poles as well as lattice steel towers.
- Prepare specifications for the procurement of transmission line materials and structures.
- Develop cost estimates, schedules and budgets for projects.
- Provide engineering support to resolve technical issues that may arise in the different project phases.
- Provide technical direction, guidance and training to junior engineers.
- Some fieldwork may be required.
Qualifications
- To perform this job successfully, the individual should be familiar with a basic level of proficiency of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, Power Point). Demonstrated knowledge in the PLS-CADD suite of design software tools is required.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in electrical engineering or civil engineering from an ABET accredited four-year college or university program. This position requires a minimum of ten years’ experience in transmission line design engineering. A Professional Engineer license is preferred. Candidate must have knowledge of applicable federal, state, local laws, regulations and the National Electric Safety Code
