Senior Mine Engineer

Ballantyne Recruitment is an executive recruitment consultancy with a number of established relationships with highly reputable organisations within the Mining sector. Ballantyne Recruitment's Mining sector currently has an opening for a Senior Mine Engineer which will be a FIFO out of Perth on an 9/5 roster and you fly in company time. 


You will be reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent and this position requires an experienced open cut Senior Mining Engineer who likes to lead by example and make a real difference with in the mining operation. You will provide a professional level of engineering expertise and to make technical contributions to production, planning and optimise life of mine. 


Responsibilities will include: 
  • Coordinate engineering activities with production teams, surveyors, geologists, drill and blast and contractor teams
  • Supervising and Leading Mining Engineers and Graduate Mining Engineers
  • Carry out pit and dump design work, planning, scheduling and project work as required
  • Delivery of rolling operational mine plans, reports and monthly presentations
  • Communicate all mine development issues and risks with in the operational short to medium term planning
  • Understand, reconcile and report on planning input parameters to improve quality, practicality and utility of plans
  • Initiate ground disturbance approvals based on planning requirements for pits, dumps, roads and rehab
  • Lead, train and mentor direct reports in the information of daily and weekly operational plans and schedules
To be considered in this role you will require, 
  • Tertiary qualifications in mining engineering or equivalent
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office, Outlook, and Surpac/Minesched or other mining related software
  • Senior first aid ticket
  • Knowledge of mine planning, scheduling and mine design methods and techniques
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Well developed leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Iron Ore mining and blending methods
  • Knowledge of multi pit and multi element operations
  • Strong focus on safety

You will be experienced in open pit mining operations preferably with mining experience within the Australian market. You will also require having previous experience in managing a team of people and a history of achieving results.
