U.S. Energy Marketing Analyst
Position Purpose:
- This position provides analytical and research support to COALSALES, COALTRADE, Investor and Government Relations, Business Development, Strategic Planning and BTU Conversion with respect to the domestic coal and energy market outlook, prospects for coal growth, and specific customer and/or market related studies.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Maintaining U.S. coal supply and demand model
- Assist in coal and other energy (natural gas /oil /nuclear /hydro /renewable) market research efforts including production, consumption, stockpile, competitive fuel/generation analysis and price history/forecasts
- Research and maintain databases of for coal, steel/metallurgical coal, oil/gas and other energy and related information used in forecasting and reporting
- Maintain and update the New and Retiring Coal Power Plant database list
- Assist in developing weekly and monthly Marketing Reports and Statistical analysis which are circulated/presented to Senior Management, the Management Team and the Board of Directors
- Support COALSALES/COALTRADE efforts through provision of customer market research for various bids/trade positions
- Assist in tracking and analyzing the impact of various environmental and legislative efforts
- Provide research assistance to other departments such as Investor and Government Relations, Business Development, Strategic Planning and Btu Conversion as required
- Complete special projects, as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, engineering or related field and 2 or more years of work experience in the energy/ coal/ utility industry, international experience a plus
- Professional interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with professionals from a variety of disciplines
- Self-starter, ability to take direction and work independently
- Ability to work in team environment and coordinate well
- Strong analytical and statistical analysis skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
- Familiarity with Microsoft Access a plus
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Ability and willingness to work outside standard 8 – 5 schedule at the beginning of each quarter for Board Meeting and Earnings Call preparation as required
