Mining - Safety Specialist

The Company currently have vacancies for experienced Mining and Engineering employees in their West Wits Safety Hub of Operational Excellence. The successful candidate will be required to coach, influence and assist production personnel as well as perform the functions as per the requirements of the Mine Health and Safety Act.

Mining - Safety specialist:

Applicants must:

• Be in possession of a Gr. 12 Certificate / N3 Certificate
• Have a valid certificate of fitness
• Be proficient in English
• Be computer literate
• Have a Mine Overseer’s certificate of competence with a minimum of five years’ experience as a Shift Boss in an underground mining environment.
• Experience as an appointed Mine Overseer will be advantageous

Engineering - Safety specialist:

Applicants must:

• Be in possession of a Gr. 12 Certificate / N3 Certificate
• A valid certificate of fitness
• Be proficient in English
• Be computer literate
• Have a trade certificate of competence
• Have at least five years’ experience as a Foreman in an underground mining environment.
• Experience as an appointed Engineering Foreman and multi-skilled experience will be advantageous

General requirements

• Strong communication, mentoring, training and negotiation skills and capable of adopting a variety of interpersonal styles as the situation demands
• Experience in Hazard identification & Risk Assessment process
• Good knowledge of a Safety Management System

Salary

• Appointments will be commensurate with the successful individual’s level of experience and qualifications and the salary will be in accordance with the Company’s Schedule of Salaries.
