Driller (Mineral Mining)

To operate drilling equipment to remove core samples which direct mining operations to optimise production and operations in accordance to predetermined procedures programs and standards

Formal Education

• Grade 10
• Technical/ Legal Certification
• Drivers License
• Licensed on at least three types of operating equipment

Experience 

• At 1 -2 Years practical experience in a drilling environment with preference to experience in Minerals Mining environment.

Main Outputs and Responsibilities for This Position – (Please provide a short description under each heading/output)

Promotes a safe work environment by:

• Monitoring and ensuring compliance to the company Health, Safety and Environment Management manual and relevant legislation.
• Attending Tool Box talks
• Wearing the correct PPE
• Carries out drilling operations to extract samples by:
• Coordinating and overseeing the maintenance of all drilling equipment
• Performing first line maintenance on drilling equipment under supervision
• Reporting major equipment breakdowns to Mobiles Department
• Ensuring equipment failure is kept to the minimum and that drilling rig availability is high.
• Recording measurements, readings and samples on standard forms
• Liaising with drilling supervisor to ensure there are sufficient spares at hand
• Drilling required meters as per the drill plan
• Recording drilling requirements for the day as supplied by the supervisor
• Ensuring that good quality, representative samples are extracted from the drilling rig.
• Maintain a Clean Plant/Environment
• Ensure plant is free of debris and obstacles
• Ensures good housekeeping, according to Kenmare EHS standards, is promoted continuously to all staff and contractors.
• Ensures all cleaning operations are done according to Health and Safety specifications.
