Instrument Mechanician - Mining

$ 35,000 -42,000 Per Annum CTC

To carry out preventative Maintenance, faultfinding and break down repair on all field control instrumentation, PLC’s and Scada systems to ensure maximum plant availability. To source, plan, install, configure and commission new equipment requested to support production.

Formal Education

• Recognised Instrumentation Apprenticeship
• Experience
• At least 3 years experience as an Instrument Mechanician preferably in a mining or heavy industry work environment

Main Outputs and Responsibilities for This Position – (Please provide a short description under each heading/output)

Maintain and improve safety, health and environmental standards and practices by:

• Continuously practicing safe, healthy, environmentally friendly work practices in accordance to company EHS policies and procedures.

Ensure that the repair and maintenance of plant and equipment is done efficiently and effectively, and that correct standard working procedures are followed as per predetermined processes and standards in order to achieve optimum outputs by:

• Completing scheduled maintenance as per work schedules assigned and per procedure
• Prompt and thorough action with start-up, shutdowns and downtimes / plant and equipment availability.
• Completing regular visual inspections and test on plant & equipment
• Maintaining the plant fire system
• Accurately completion and processing of engineering documentation which include plant status updates, close out of jobs and handover of jobs
• Prompt action in case of emergencies.
• Involvement with troubleshooting and problem solving
• Maintaining and backing up the PLC system
• Ensures trained and competent staff by:
• Perform fair and reasonable tasks related to the job and working environment
• Stand in for the Supervisor, during his/her absence
• Coaching junior employees, in support of the employee development program
