This large diversified engineering services group is moving into the next phase of their expansion projects with the three major Iron Ore Mining Companies in Western Australia. They have key Delivery Models that have ensured growth in reputation and bottom line of the last several years in Perth and have established the business as the go to EPCM for Rail Port and Mine expansions.
You will be located with the Project Controls team based in Perth as Lead Cost Engineer. You will have the added responsibility of providing accurate commercial advice to the Project Management on all cost matters. You will also provide guidance to the more junior members of the team (Project Control Technicians, Cost Control Engineers and Senior Project Control Engineers) on the project when required.
Duties will include (but will not be limited to):
Develop tools and cost control systems.
Ensures that all aspects of cost control are implemented correctly
The review of current and subsequent budgets and staff plans for the project teams.
The tracking of weekly labour costs to ensure spending is kept within budget, making adjustments where appropriate.
Taking part in costing reviews.
Helping and mentoring junior members of the team so they are proficient on the systems and work processes involved.
Analysing all information to be able to highlight any problem areas and to be able to explain all data presented.
Prepares cost monitoring curves.
Participates in vendor or contractor bid reviews.
Assists in claims evaluation and negotiation.
This role is vital to the development of this project and will assist with all current construction activity as well as forecasting for future associated projects. You will also be responsible for mentoring the Project Control Technicians, Cost Control Engineers and Senior Project Control Engineers on a small project.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate:
Previous EPCM or Client experience of 5 years+ preferably in the rail sector as a Cost Controller.
Engineering degree or equivalent.
1-2 years general experience in engineering or construction
A successful track record of accurately recording, analyzing, interpreting and forecasting cost data for large projects.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.\
