Their engineering division is experiencing growth and a success rate of new project awards that is unrivalled in the industry. The need for a HSE Professional to manage the department and develop industry leading standards in safety is critical to the ongoing success of the business.
Initially you will be engaged on a venture forming part of the wider expansion plans for the Pilbara region to service the growing demand for WA Iron Ore. As a result our client has positioned itself as the preferred contractor for all rail projects in the Pilbara. However this position will require focus and input across the division as the business grows.
As the HSE Manager for this project you will play a pivotal role in executing HSE objective on site and provide leadership regarding the overall implementation of the Safety Management Plan. The scope of work will be varied and diverse, providing a work environment characterised as both challenging and rewarding where you will be recognised for your efforts.
The scope of work includes the construction of marine and civil infrastructure, which includes development of shipping berths, jettys and heavy concrete formwork. Thus, the ideal candidate must possess a working knowledge of safety implications of working on a project of this type. Reporting to the Senior project Director you will be the subject matter expert regarding the implementation of the HSE Management plan and ensure that the HSE team deliver the safety objective in accordance with legislative & internal policy procedures.
It is envisaged that candidates will be able to bring a strong track record of experience for the following areas of accountability and have a strong network of contacts to leverage as the business develops
Assist in ensuring that relevant contractors and personnel adhere to the HSE Procedures
Provide ongoing OHS advice to Superintendents, Supervisors, Foremen and site workers to eliminate or minimize hazards.
Participate in all risk management/mitigation processes
Lead a Team of HSE professionals & Develop and implement Project HSS initiatives
Coordinate, coach and conduct training courses
Development, implementation and ongoing review of the Project HSS Management System including Policies.
Assist in reporting, investigating and implementing corrective and/or preventive actions resulting from identification of hazards, near miss incidents and work related illness/injury.
Review and approve all Contractors Health & Safety Management Plans & Processes
Ensure ongoing compliance to Project KPI targets
Mobilisation activities for Contractors
Develop & implement strategic initiatives as required

Candidates must be able to demonstrate:
A minimum of 5 years experience in a Site Safety Management Role
5 years minimum experience working on heavy haul rail projects
Relevant Tertiary Qualifications
Sound negotiation and problem solving skills, clear communication verbal and written.
Well-developed interpersonal/communication skills including report writing
An ability to adapt to the various internal procedures
Be able to liaise with clients on all levels.
