Having recently been awarded a number of multibillion dollar contracts aimed at increasing the annual production Iron Ore in the Pilbara to 240 million tonnes by 2013, which will encompass a new ore processing plant, the procurement of mining equipment and new rolling stock. This also includes the ongoing development of the Port Hedland Inner & Outer Harbor, with the construction additional berths, ship-loaders, car dumpers, and associated port infrastructure. Due to this increasing work load the need for safety professionals to ensure the OH&S objective is being meet on site has become an urgent requirement.
Reporting directly to the Safety Superintendent you play an integral role in the implementation of the overall HSE management plan in its entirety both from a procedural and theoretical perspective. This will be an ideal opportunity to deploy your skills and experience allowing you to provide a significant contribution to the project and be recognised for your efforts.
The ideal candidate will be required to demonstrate leadership and commitment in relation to the implementation of the HSE Management Plan. Assist managing Project Staff and Contractors working in their area of the project with respect to:
Assist in Investigations/hazard analysis
Ensure compliance to client site HSE procedures and requirements
Work in accordance with site safety guidelines and procedures
Assist in the implementation of all aspects HSE
Participate in Behavioural Observation Program '
JHA and Take 5 Auditing for Quality, task specific and compliance
Assist in ensuring that relevant contractors and personnel adhere to the HSE Procedures
Assist in identifying HSE training (and awareness) needs for the project
Coordinate and conduct training courses
Actively participate in and support Zero Incident and Injury culture
Pre-empt problems to the HSE performance and recommend strategies to overcome delay
Actively participate in and support Incident and Injury Free culture

To be considered for the positions we require:
Cert IV Occupational Health and Safety
Cert IV Training & Assessment
4-8 years minimum experience as an HSE Advisor with EPCM Mining background is a must
Effective Written & Verbal communication skills
Effective time management skills
Computer Literacy
Conduct the induction of all project workforce and visitors on HSE responsibilities
Experience assisting in ensuring that relevant contractors and personnel adhere to the HSE Procedures
Interest in conducting the induction of all project workforce and visitors on HSE responsibilities
Actively participate in and support Incident and Injury Free culture
