Job Description
The Middlemount Coal project is the first mining contract awarded to NRW in Queensland. The project is also NRW's first contract in the coal mining industry. The five year mining contract covers all mining activities including; clearing & grubbing, short & long term detailed mine scheduling & planning, drilling & blasting including design, load and haul of overburden.
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Technical Services Manager will be responsible for leading the technical services team at the Middlemount Coal operation. Specifically you will accountable for delivering the following:
Short, mid and long-term planning for the extraction of 40 million bcm of overburden and 4 million tonnes of product coal.
Reviewing existing and implementing appropriate mine planning solutions to achieve production targets.
Ensuring effective drilling and blasting in partnership with Action Drill and Blast, NRW's Drill & Blast team.
Foster strong working relationships with our client to effectively plan within defined environmental constraints.
The Successful Applicant
The successful candidate will ideally possess the following attributes:
Tertiary qualifications in mine engineering or equivalent.
A minimum of 5- 7 years post-graduate experience in open cut coal mining with at least 2 years in a senior engineering role.
High level of competence in mine planning software packages.
Developed coaching and leadership skills to develop a new team.
Familiarity and competence working in a contract/client relationship.
