Our client is a strong leader in the provision of mineral exploration and has over 40 years experience in the Asia Pacific Region. With long term contracts with some of the biggest mining companies in the region, we are now seeking suitably qualified Safety Advisors for their various projects in PNG and the Solomon Islands.
Reporting to the Safety Coordinator, you will be responsible for offering assistance and providing leadership to all site operational field crew by implementing all company safety initiatives.
As Safety Advisor, you will be responsible for:
Coordinating the implementation of safety initiatives;
Ensuring the accurate compilation and recording of site statistics for each project you are responsible for;
Educating staff on all company policies and procedures;
Participating in all safety related meetings; and
Safety reporting to Senior Management.
The successful applicant will have the following skills and experience:
PNG Safety Officer qualifications - Levels 1 and 2;
A minimum of at least one year's experience in a field safety role;
Demonstrated safety knowledge including accident investigation, risk management, safety training initiative development and implementation and safety inspections and audits;
A thorough knowledge of PNG's safety laws and regulations;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Pigin;
Excellent time management skills.
