About the Job
Our client, one of the world’s largest and diverse EPCM’s currently requires an Engineering Manager. The Engineering Manager will be based in the Toronto Ontario office working on the delivery of medium to large projects within the Mining and Metallurgy Division. Reporting to the Project Manager of the assigned project and to the Project Engineering Manager for administrative purposes, the Engineering Manager is the primary leader and manager of the project engineering team including planning, budgeting, and controls related to project delivery efforts. This individual is also a key participant in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling, and performance for projects requiring capital expenditures of up to $1 Billion.

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for the following:

Prepare a list of engineering deliverables.
Plan the mobilization and direct the activities of the multi-discipline engineering personnel.
Direct and coordinate technical team members in the preparation of designs, intelligent models, plans and specifications.
Build and lead the engineering team.
Manage and coordinate the progress of the engineering work in accordance with the project scope, schedule and procedures.
Identify and manage change.
Ensure the quality of the engineering work products and services meet the client's and company standards.
Using project management systems, measure the progress of engineering work packages to ensure that the budgets and schedules are being met. If necessary take corrective action.
Close down the engineering portion of the project ensuring that a complete handover to the client team is done in conformance with company procedures.

To be successful in this role, the Engineering Manager would possess the following:

Bachelors in an applicable engineering field. Masters or equivalent preferred.
PEng or PEng eligible in Ontario is desired.
At least 10 years of experience in EPCM/EPC engineering management working on projects with capital costs in excess of $250 Million.
15+ years of total applicable experience including applicable experience prior to engineering management roles.
Prior experience managing an engineering team of at least 50 people is preferred including sub- consultants.
Working knowledge of construction methods, building systems and terminology.
