General Engineering Superintendent

The General Engineering Superintendent is responsible for ensuring the safety of staff at all times, maximum plant availability and adequate plant maintenance in order to successfully achieve business plans and to ensure optimised production. The General Engineering Superintendent reports to the Engineer or Plant Manager.
This position is located in Schefferville, Quebec
 
Job Duties
  • Effectively control maintenance costs
  • Ensure that the client is informed with regards to Engineering activities and principles
  • Make suggestions on the most effective repair methods
  • Responsible for adhering to all relevant Health and Safety Standards and legal requirements
  • Ensure the smooth running of plant operations at all times
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting and communication to the Plant Manager and / or Engineer
  • Responsible for supervising the stores at the respective plant
  • Ensure that engineering and plant policies and procedures are up to date and aligned to prescribed standards
  • Manage and control the Maintenance Software Planning System
  • Ensure that direct reports are effectively supervised during shifts
  • Assist the Engineer and / or Plant Manager in the implementation of Organisational Transformation throughout the Plant
  • Participate in the Workplace Forum
  • Take full ownership of own development
Requirements
  • To be considered for this fantastic opportunity, you should have successfully completed Grade 12 and possess a formal engineering qualification (degree or diploma).
  • You should also have a minimum of four years experience in engineering (Mechanical and/or Electrical) and three years experience as a foreman in the engineering industry, preferably within the mining environment.
  • To be successful in this role, you should demonstrate knowledge of practical application of engineering science and technology, mathematics and physics.   You should also have good judgement and decision making skills.
  • Working Conditions
  • On site single accommodation only. Shift cycle 3 weeks on 3 weeks off. Weather conditions site specific.
