The Process Superintendent / Plant Metallurgist is responsible for achieving the needs and requirements of the client by ensuring that production targets are being met, completed safely, within budget and according to policies and procedures. This position reports to the Plant Manager.
 
This position is located in Schefferville, Quebec.
 
Job Duties
  • Effectively control costs by ensuring that the plant is operating optimally at all times
  • Ensure accurate and effective management of the Plant's budget
  • Achieve production targets
  • Ensure customer satisfaction based upon an agreed contractual agreement
  • Maintain an efficient Health and Safety Management System in the plant
  • Liaise with other contractors to ensure effective production and operations
  • Work closely with the management team to schedule and conduct plant maintenance
  • Oversee Technical Projects from the Operations and Metallurgical side
  • Assist the Engineering Superintendent to maintain sufficient stock levels of critical plant spares
  • Effective implementation and continuous management of Plant related data capturing and the creation of daily, weekly and monthly reports
  • Schedule training as per process requirements to ensure the correct level of competence at all times, throughout the Plant
  • Be accountable for Organisational Transformation
  • Participate in the Workplace Forum
  • Take full ownership of own development
Requirements
  • To be considered for this fantastic opportunity, you should have successfully completed a Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering.
  • You should also have a minimum of three years' experience and knowledge of plant operations with at least two years in a supervisory role.
  • To be successful in this role, you should demonstrate knowledge of practical application of engineering science and technology, mathematics and chemistry.   You should also have good judgement and decision making skills.
  • Working Conditions
 On site single accommodation only. Shift cycle 3 weeks on 3 weeks off. Weather conditions site specific.
