I am seeking a construction manager for a major mining company in Kazakhstan for an immediate position.
Project Overview:
The Project is a Greenfield site
The anticipated investment is in the range US$1.5 to US$2 billion.
Position Description:
The Construction Manager is accountable to the Project Director and will be responsible for the following functions:
Strategic and Operational functions:
• Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines.
• Determine labor requirements and dispatch workers to construction sites.
• Inspect and review projects
• Interpret and explain plans and contract terms
• Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements
• Obtain all necessary permits and licenses.
• Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods.
• Select, contract, and oversee workers who complete specific pieces of the project
• Requisition supplies and materials
• Prepare and submit budget estimates and progress and cost tracking reports.
• Develop and implement quality control programs.
• Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site.
• Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals
• Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems.
• Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites
• Evaluate construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans, using computers
• Direct and supervise workers.
• Technical Degree Qualified
• 15 – 20 years experience on large capital project (mining an advantage)
• Minimum 10 years of expat experience
• Strong Character with good leadership and management skills
• IT skills, Organized, detailed
• Extensive negotiation skills
• Ability to manage large workload with numerous demands occurring at the same time
• Good communication skills - verbal and written both internally and externally
• Strong analytical abilities
• Languages: English Language Essential
