Precipitation Unit Supervisor

Position Description

• Located 125 miles southwest of Houston, Alcoa Point Comfort Operations supplies alumina -- the compound from which aluminum is made -- to Alcoa's  global production system -- the largest network of refineries and smelters in the world. Alcoa Point Comfort Operations has been a member of the Calhoun County Community since 1948 when it constructed the first aluminum production facility powered by natural gas. Since 1980, however, alumina has been Point Comfort Operation's primary product. • The primary function of this position is to provide shift supervision for Operations within the Precipitation Department.
• The position will offer leadership and technical skills to ensure the safe, effective, and economical operational and maintenance services for the Precipitation area equipment, facilities, and grounds. This position is to, also, ensure continuity of plant production with minimum downtime, while providing the technical support at a standard consistent with long-term operational objectives.

Basic Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required, with additional education preferred.
• Minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience in a heavy manufacturing environment
• Minimum of 1 - 3 years of supervisory/management experience in a related work environment.
• Demonstrate strong leadership skills in safety and human relations, including the ability to influence, persuade, and motivate subordinates.
• Ability to conform poor performance or misuse and abuse of company equipment, is also required.
• Be able to handle first step grievances in a manner that protects the company's interest and the rights of the employee.

Preferred Qualifications

• Formal training after High School preferred
• 6-8 years of relevant work experience preferred
• Experience with, and/or strong knowledge of, labor contracts and agreements highly desirable.
