HSE Coordinator

Mastermyne are one of the leading coal mining contractors in Australia, with a reputation for delivery and safe working practices on major mining contracts. Due to ongoing success throughout QLD and NSW, we are looking for an experienced HSE Coordinator to drive our health and safety culture while working with the Safety and management team in Emerald, QLD.


Reporting to the HSEQ Manager on site, your duties will include: 
  • Participating in the development, implementation and the ongoing monitoring of Health Safety and Environment (HSE) systems to ensure all HSE requirements in the business plan are met
  • Assisting line management in the proactive planning of HSEQ into day to day operational planning
  • Development and presentation of HSEQ training for all levels of employees
  • Acting in the capacity of statutory Workplace Health & Safety Officer and performing the roles and responsibilities defined by legislation
  • Providing assistance in the development and implementation of proactive safety initiatives
  • Support post incident management rehabilitation and workers compensation services
  • Be actively involved in monitoring the effectiveness of HSEQ systems implementation in the workplace and participate in continuous improvements.
To be considered for the role you will possess:
  • A Tertiary Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental qualification and/ or substantial experience in similar roles
  • A Cert. IV in Training and Assessment
  • A Rehabilitation & Return to Work Coordinator certification as per legislation
  • The ability to utilise investigative tools and processes (ICAM training) 
  • The ability to demonstrate at least two years hands on safety experience  within a similar industry
  • An in-depth understanding of OH&S legislation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills 
  • A proactive approach to training and development 
  • Accredited Internal Auditing Qualifications are highly regarded but not essential.
