CNC Operator

Minimum Requirements

• Trade Certificate as Machine Turner
• At least Standard 10 (Grade 12) or an N3 Certificate with Maths, Science and most importantly Machining Drawing/ Technical Drawing.
• The ability to read and interpret Machining Drawings.
• Work experience on system machinery such as FANUC.
• 3 to 5 years experience as manual Lathe Turner in a Heavy Engineering Environment.
• Must be willing to work extended hours and or Shifts.
• Must constantly observe Safety Standards all the time.

Job Specification

• Operating all conventional machines in the General Engineering Division such as Vertical and Horizontal Lathes, Boring Mills etc.
• Machining of customer products in accordance with customer requirements
• Machining of Alloys and Copper Components or other work pieces as required.
• Studying the order requirements and Machining Drawings for information on Specifications and Manufacturing Instructions.
• Determining material requirements and operational sequence.
• Adjusting Machine controls and change Tool Settings in order to keep dimensions within specified tolerances.
• Inspecting Workpiece to verify conformance with specifications, using instruments such as gauges, micrometer etc.
• Moving controls to set cutting speeds and depths.
• Lifting workpiece manually or using Overhead Crane and positioning and securing it in machine using suitable tools.
