Project Engineer - Port and Materials Handling

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Defines and manages engineering resources, both technically and from a functional standpoint. Develops scope definition for engineering services, establishes project design criteria, approves technical documentation.
  • Plans and controls engineering work, including the determination of priorities.
  • Assures compliance with the project schedule, control estimates, quality procedures and health & safety requirements.
  • Maintains good client relationships.
  • Analyzes problems, organizes investigations, makes decisions and recommendations on technical issues utilizing the engineering discipline leads, and implements conclusions.
 
Has client focus and team building among the project's engineering staff.
Provides input to salary recommendations and performance evaluations for team members.
Some business development responsibilities.
 
Qualifications:
  • P.Eng
  • 8 years of technical and managerial experience in mining & metallurgy, power generation, petrochemical and other heavy engineering
  • Ship loading port experience required
  • Materials handling experience
  • A combination of design-office and site experience.
  • A general knowledge of all pertinent engineering disciplines and a thorough understanding of the interaction between disciplines
  • Ability to present reports on facts, and proposals for initiatives, to Project Managers, clients and engineering personnel
  • Data automation tools experience including CAD.
  • Knowledge of project control processes such as planning, scheduling and costing.
  • Ability to draw conclusions from a mass of information, and set objectives.
  • Can chair effective meetings
