General Manager - Geology

We currently have an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Resources professional to join our team as General Manager - Geology and play a crucial role in the success of the Resource Geology and Resource Development teams. Reporting to Managing Director - Australia, you will lead a team of professionals that span multiple commodities and sites within Western Australia and Internationally.
Based in West Perth, you will be accountable for the following:
  • Budget control and leadership of the Regional Exploration, Resource Evaluation and Geological Sciences teams in the development, implementation and promotion of a proactive safety culture among both employees and contractors.
  • Lead and manage your Team to ensure the long-term success of the Company with addition of quality Mineral Resources through effective and efficient Resource Development and near-mine Exploration programs.
  • Lead and manage your Team to achieve technical excellence in the modelling, estimation and reporting of Mineral Resources.
  • Maintain working relationships with the Geology and Mine Planning teams on-site to ensure alignment of the Resources group’s strategy with operational requirements.
  • Contribute to the understanding of the geology and mineralisation controls of the area by driving the analysis of Resources programs and results, encourage the development of alternate techniques and methods where appropriate.
  • Provide input into the annual Resource, and Resource Development plans and budgets in keeping with the Company’s strategic goals.
  • Prepare and present internal and external reporting as required.
To be successful in this role, you will hold a BSc degree in Geology or related discipline and have a comprehensive understanding of geological modelling and geostatistical resource estimation methods, as well as a sound understanding of resource development and near-mine exploration practices. With an extensive amount of experience within the Australian hard rock mining industry, you will have proven yourself in a similar role and be able to lead and manage a team of professionals.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills is a must together with a high level of motivation and passion for mentoring your team and enhancing their technical knowledge.
