Senior Exploration Geologist

Our client, listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX), has a portfolio of diversified advanced mineral exploration tenements across the Asia Pacific Region covering nickel, copper, gold, silver and zinc. Reporting to the Chief Geologist, they have an exciting exploration role available for a Senior Exploration Geologist who will be involved in the generation and evaluation of exploration targets and the planning, implementation and delivery of high quality Greenfields exploration programs focusing on Gold and Copper.

Key responsibilities will include but not limited to:
  • Management and supervision exploration drilling to develop a Gold & Copper deposit; 
  • Reviewing and analyzing existing geological, geochemical and geophysical data to locate new targets and assess existing targets; 
  • Geological and structural mapping; 
  • Identification of minerals in hand specimen and mineralisation styles; 
  • Supervision and mentoring of junior exploration geologists and field assistants; 
  • Management of drilling contractors and consultants; 
  • Management of field exploration camp; 
  • Community consultation and liaison with affected landholders and indigenous groups. 
To be considered for this role you will possess:
  • A Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Geology;
  • 5-7 years experience;
  • Ability to coordinate reconnaissance rock chip, mapping and stream sediment sampling programs;
  • Demonstrated porphyry copper-gold and epithermal gold experience;
  • Knowledge of geochemistry and geo-tectonics essential to role (particularly with respect to back arc basin exploration);
  • Physical fitness, and an enjoyment of working in isolated jungle locations; 
  • Experience in mentoring and supervising junior staff;
  • Proven experience in project generation and budgeting;
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
 Client would prefer a residential appointment for this role, although FIFO is open to discussion for the right candidate.
