Mine Manager

Our client, an open cut coal miner in Indonesia, currently seeks an experienced Mine Manager.  This role requires an effective leader who can instil discipline while maintaining a harmonious relationship with all employees and contractors.

The company presently produces 30,000 tpm and ships coal from its port operation in Western Indonesia. A feasibility study for underground expansion is underway.

Reporting to the General Manager, Mine Manager duties include but are not limited to training of company staff and oversight of all activities on site in alignment with company policies. Strong experience in cost containment and implementation of efficiency initiatives will distinguish the successful candidate.

In detail, the Mine Manager will be expected to:
  • Implement management initiatives and strategies as well as participate in the writing and development of Standard Operating Procedures and Policies;
  • Participate in the business planning process to ensure our business and services are focused on company needs;
  • Oversee and assist the Mine Planning team in their preparation of mine plans and implement those plans on a pit-by-pit basis in a safe and timely manner;
  • Represent the company in its relations with the local community and local authorities as required;
  • Guide, train and mentor staff; and
  • Evaluate contractors’ performance and service quality.
Mandatory Requirements:
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Engineering, Production or Management roles
  • Native / fluent and effective communication skills in English
Preferable:
  • Bachelor Degree in Mine Engineering
  • A POU (Pengawas Operational Utama) Certificate
  • Effective communication skills in Bahasa Indonesian
