Laboratory Manager

My client, a multinational Mining entity seeks to employ a Laboratory Manager to join their operation based in the Northern Cape

Role description

• Plan and schedule all tests in the Value-in-Use laboratory in consultation with Senior Engineers
• Supervision of six research assistants and contractors
• Coaching, mentoring and skill development of the laboratory team to allow achievement of the operational, quality and safety targets
• OSH act responsibility including GMR - 2(1)
• Manage legal compliancy of Value-in-Use
• Implement and maintain the laboratory information management system
• Management of the Laboratory QA/QC System
• Manage the maintenance of the equipment in the VIU laboratory; organise the preventative maintenance schedule; direct the priority around equipment repairs and the decision to shut down or return equipment to service
• Develop/design/source new laboratory equipment for tests, conduct research work in order to initiate
• Laboratory process improvements

Who we're looking for

• National Diploma or equivalent
• Management qualification will be beneficial
• Supervision/management experience
• Experienced in the maintenance of specialised laboratory equipment - electrical, mechanical and control systems
• In depth knowledge of automation and PLC
• Project Management experience
• Experience in an Iron ore environment and working with safety/quality systems
• Knowledge of relevant legislation (OSH act)
