EDMS Technician (#218265)
Minimum Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with documented products and/or other EDMS applications (ie. Filenet, Livelink)
- Basic technical training in software, hardware and/or systems
- Basic oral and written communication skills
- Must be a team-player with demonstrated flexibility
- Intermediate knowledge with all MS Office products, with focus on Excel and Access
- Ability to perform multiple tasks and easily adjust priorities
- Knowledge of DQL (Documentum Query Language) and Structured Query Language (SQL) would be an asset
Skills and Experience:
- Minimum three years experience in an EPC environment or equivalent professional / technical experience
- Proficient in Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS) and DMG work processes
- Intermediate supervisory and leadership skills / training
- Previous experience working in the Oil, Gas and Chemical field / EPC industry an asset
- Understanding of Document Management an asset
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills in data manipulation and management
- Familiar with various types of Engineering Documents, such as engineering drawings, engineering and construction work packages, isometrics, P&ID's, etc.
- Must have excellent knowledge of DMG work procedures, document numbering and document revision process
- Strong ability to analyze, research, and provide recommendations on how to resolve problems quickly and efficiently
- Must be able to operate independently, but within the scope of departmental requirements, while handling multiple tasks at one time
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions
Typical Duties:
- Provide Technical Support for external users connecting to EDMS
- Provide technical support to the Project team
- Perform docbase audits to ensure data accuracy and consistency
- Data manipulation and reconciliation as required by the project and with the approval of the DMG Principal Lead and/or EDMS Manager
- Assist in the development of EDMS procedures and/or guides for the project team
- Assist in the preparation and conveyance of training sessions to external and internal customers
- Ensure all engineering documents, drawings and project deliverables are processed in the Client &/or Client EDMS in accordance with established client / corporate instructions, procedures, requirements and guidelines
- Explain specific procedure(s) to clarify non-conformances and required corrective action
- Other activities as directed by the Document Management Principal, Project Lead and/or EDMS Manager
Leadership:
- Provide recommendations to Project Leads regarding EDMS usage on projects
- Oversee all EDMS integrity and functionality testing
- Develop EDMS procedures and/or guides for the project team
- Champions the creation of a project work environment and culture, supported by leadership on the project, which fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation and satisfaction
- Represents EDMS and DMG with project management, engineering disciplines, project controls, procurement, construction and the client
- Take responsibility for both self and team decisions / actions
- Seek input from others if insufficient information available
- Motivate, inspire, and instill confidence in others
- Strong affinity for process improvement through Six Sigma
- Demonstrated problem solving abilities and methods
- Ability to resolve minor staff / team issues
- Provides training, mentoring as required
- Monitors / plans team work priorities
- Monitors team output and quality as it relates to the EDMS
Communication:
- Conduct presentations to customers on EDMS functionality
- Lead in the preparation and conveyance of training sessions to external and internal Customers
- Communicate clearly, both verbal and written
- Intermediate presentation skills / ability
- Attend / conduct meetings effectively
- Explains technical and other issues clearly to various audiences
- Provides input on personnel performances and assists with training, growth and career of team members
- Willingness to learn / apply new skills
- Understands, applies and shares EDMS / DM / project EI / JI / procedures
Skills:
- 4-6 yrs oil and gas experience (Must Have)

- Documentum - document management software (Must Have)
