Senior Project Manager – Magnesium

Our client is a commercial company wholly Government owned, and specifically assigned to pursue project development and investment across a broad range of industries such as oil and gas exploration and production, power, energy, shipping, speciality and performance petrochemicals and chemicals. Now they are ready to embark on their next stage of vision that will involve the upstream mining of metals and minerals processing leveraging on the in-country available mineral resources.

This is an exciting phase in the company’s and the country’s history and to this end they seek a highly talented individual who will already have acquired senior project management experience in the delivery of a large scale mining and minerals processing facility for the production of metals.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
 Reporting directly to the company’s board of directors, you will develop the vision, mission and strategy and of course have the full operational, control of the business as follows:
  • To establish economic feasibility and technical viability of a project producing in-country Magnesium metal from Dolomite ore and Magnesium metal/alloy downstream products; 
  • Prepare workforce schedule, expenditure planning and capital budgets for techno-economic bankable feasibility reports; 
  • Create and enhance business relationships with investment partners, technology providers and specialist third party consultants; 
  • Develop concept of global marketing plans for the products under consideration; 
  • Obtain all required approvals required for the project like environmental, regulatory authority etc. 
JOB SPECIFICATION:         
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Mining or Mineral Process Engineering or related field from an accredited University; an MBA and/or PMP would be an advantage; 
  • Must have at Project Manager level completed mega projects to BFS stage; 
  • 20+ years experience with either major EPCM’s or owner’s teams and have a solid reputation within the industry for completing mega projects to BFS stage on time and within budget; 
  • Experience in the production of Magnesium is a must, experience in the production of Magnesium by use of the Pidgeon Process using Dolomite would be an advantage; 
  • Experience in dealing with environmental authorities; 
  • Strong communications and financial skills; 
  • Experience in dealing with external finance providers.
