Process Engineer

Position Description

  • We have an opening for a full-time Process Engineer in the Extrusions department of our Lafayette Operations group of North American (NA) Extrusions based in Lafayette, Indiana. The individual in this role will report to the Extrusions Manager and is responsible for utilizing engineering methodology and other technical expertise to evaluate, design, and implement process improvement projects and ensure process capability and efficiency of both new and existing production equipment.
  • The Process Engineer will work with a team of manufacturing engineers to organize and lead plant efforts in transitioning new products and new production equipment, troubleshoot manufacturing and process problems, identify solutions with data-based decision making, and identify and implement new and improved methods of manufacturing to improve profitability.

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform time studies for various manufacturing processes and establish standards
  • Create / revise internal detailed manufacturing drawings
  • Drive and coordinate capital expenditure projects
  • Create / revise facility layout drawings
  • Read and interpret blueprints & drawings

Basic Qualifications

  • BS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
  • Environmental, health, and safety focus/orientation
  • 2+ years of demonstrated leadership, organizational, communication, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Knowledge of ANSI standards and drawing practices
  • Knowledge and experience in applying lean manufacturing techniques
  • Ability to establish sound priorities and objectives and be able to function in a high pressure work environment
  • Must be self-motivated, able to motivate others, able to set direction and expectations and follow-up to ensure success
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills
  • A willingness to get out on the shop floor and “get dirty”
