Department Description

  • The Customer Service Department of [Company] Automation seeks an Aftermarket Sales Supervisor for the Bethlehem, PA location.

Brief Description

  • The position is responsible for building strong customer (internal and external) relationships by using and developing the capability of resources in, and outside the Automation &Electrical (A&E) Customer Service department to increase volume and quality of sales and support delivered in the Americas.

Detailed Description

  • [Company] A&E Customer Service is responsible for supplying parts, services, system upgrades and support related to the following technologies:
  • PLC or PAC based machine and process control
  • HMI, SCADA, DCS, Historian and Reporting systems
  • Industrial computer systems and networks
  • Laboratory Automation and Laboratory Information Management (LIMS) systems
  • Advanced process instrumentation
  • Application software development and licensing

As Team Leader:

  • Lead and develop the inside sales and customer relations team.
  • Develop and continuously improve sales and order execution processes and procedures.
  • Create and maintain team KPI's.
  • Develop relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Work with other [Company] departments to enable cross selling of A&E products and services by other sales teams.
  • Analyze installed base and new projects for aftermarket sales opportunities.
  • Facilitate feedback from customers that can be used to improve A&E products, services and procedures.

As Sales Engineer:

  • Analyze existing installations, by local inspection or engineering document review, to determine areas where additions, improvements and upgrades can be made to improve customer's operational profitability.  Create written recommendations and proposals based on opportunities found.
  • Answer customer requests for service, support and quotations by phone and email.  Enter customer requests in the Customer Service Database and follow up to ensure that the customer’s needs are met.
  • Receive customer RFQ’s. Work with engineering and vendors to ensure that the technical and pricing information is correct, and then generate a proposal to the customer. Follow up after proposal submittal to obtain the customer order, or find out why the customer did not order what was proposed.
  • Negotiate scope of supply, contract terms and conditions and delivery times
  • Initiate order starts.  Work with procurement, engineering and field service to ensure that orders are fulfilled to the customer's satisfaction.
  • Work with Sales Department and Customer Service Manager to continuously develop the Customer Service product and service offerings to match customer needs, changes in the market and company strategy.
  • Work with Sales and Marketing on the local and global level to coordinate and perform marketing campaigns.
  • Provide technical support by phone, email and remote access.  The level of support provided will depend on the engineers training and experience.

Job Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience
  • Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Experience providing proposals for industrial systems, parts, products and services.
  • Understanding of commercial and legal requirements for successful sale and execution of orders ($100-$250k) for domestic and international customers.
  • Spanish and/or Portuguese language skills highly desirable.
  • Bachelor degree applicable to the position or minimum 5 years’ experience with equivalent responsibilities.
  • Experience in automation and electrical systems used in cement manufacturing, minerals processing or similar continuous process manufacturing.
