Responsibilities:

  • This is an exceptional opportunity to join the premiere geotechnical engineering firm in northern Virginia. When hired for this position you will supervise a group of geotechnical engineers and project managers. You will be involved with report preparation and principal level review, as well as mentoring staff. You must have current industry experience working on both geotechnical studies and construction materials testing projects  as the firm maintains low barriers between departments. The Principal Engineer will function as geotechnical department manager, assist other senior staff in marketing [Company] services, prepare proposals, and develop and maintain relationships with clients with appropriate follow up. Responsibilities include managing departmental P&L. While we will evaluate all qualified individuals for this position, candidates with knowledge of the local market are preferred.

Qualifications:

  • BSCE required; MS degree in geotechnical engineering strongly preferred.
  • 10-12 years’ experience in geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing services.
  • Must have a valid VA PE license, or be able to obtain local licensure within 3 months.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communications.
  • Strong project and personnel management, and business development skills.
