Senior Mechanical Engineer - Materials Handling >$100/hour

Our EPCM client's study team is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Material Handling Design Engineer for immediate start.


In this position, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will provide high level technical support and some supervision in relation to design and engineering services for mechanical and piping engineering projects including earthworks, roads, dams, drainage, water supply and buildings


Responsibilities:

  • Identify the requirements for mechanical/material handling engineering input into procurement and construction contract package.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate development of engineering documents for example; data sheets, inquiry packages, purchase requisitions & change orders.
  • Ensure all mechanical/material handling engineering project work complies with statutory and regulatory requirements and company policies and practices.
  • Prepare schedules for design work and allocating physical and human resources to enable mechanical engineering projects to be completed on time and within budget.
  • Monitor progress and initiating remedial action where required to ensure mechanical engineering projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Provide high level technical support for all mechanical engineering project work as required.
  • Supervise preparation of preliminary and detailed designs, specifications and documentation for all mechanical engineering project work and ensure project work complies with conditions and parameters set out in project scope of works.
  • Supervise preparation of documentation for standards, procedures, safe working practices and monitor regimes in respect of work on or around mechanical engineering projects.
  • Liaise with other department engineers and designers to ensure project goals are met.
  • Provide input to the mechanical engineering budget and address any variances from budget
  • Meet assigned dates for engineering deliverables
  • Experience on EPCM and an understanding of the culture and goals

Requirements:
  • At least 10 years experience in material handling, mining or related industries
  • Extensive 'hands on" materials handling experience: conveyors, crushing and screening plant, chutes and feeders, rotary car dumpers, stackers/reclaimers, ship-loaders, etc
  • Demonstrated experience in feasibility studies, design, construction and commissioning for mining and bulk material handling plants, including large scale conveyor design project
  • Professional engineer with formal engineering qualifications
  • Ability to manage and lead a discipline team
  • Ability to form & foster collaborative relationships within the business and externally
  • Understanding of and ability to follow Company & Client policies and procedures
