Mining Engineer (Coal & Hard Rock)

Role details:
My client, a leading well known Mine consulting company based in Johannesburg is recruiting and seeking the expertise of a dynamic Mining Engineer to join their team.

Purpose of Job:
  • Mining engineering and discipline project design, pre-feasibility (PCE), bankable feasibility (CBE), EPCM and turnkey mining projects undertaken.
  • Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Mining Design & Drafting
  • Manage design of mining resources
  • Manage the mine design tasks to ensure that mining designs are carried out in accordance with client standards and specification documentation, industry norms and the relevant legislation
  • Ensure the effective review and approval of mining design and engineering
  • Provide mining inputs for mining feasibility studies
  • Prepare mine design documentation as per requirements for the level of study
Project Management
  • Liaise and co-ordinate with the client, project manager and engineers of other disciplines to ensure adherence to project and client requirements and specifications
  • Manage the schedule (time), cost, quality and scope on all mining contracts on the project
  • Manage the mining site supervisors to ensure that mining contractors perform to project safety, environmental and quality requirements
  • Ensure quality standards are adhered to by checking accuracy of work before it gets issued
  • Advise, monitor and control all mining site staff and contractors on behalf of the Site Project Manager 
  • Assure the client and project manager that the design, erection, testing and commissioning of a mining installation, under his charge, complies with all safety and statutory requirements
  • Manage high level of risks within the project in regard to engineering processes, systems, equipment and infrastructure
Likely Background/Experience: 
  • Either BSc Eng (Mining). BEng (Mining), BTech (Mining) or NHD (Mining) with Mine Manager’s certificate (Metalifferous/Coal) optional but recommended
  • ECSA Registered
  • 5 years’ experience in mining engineering as a miner shift boss or mine overseer. 
  • Coal Mining/Hard rock Mining
