Business Area Leader - Mining

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• An applicable Degree /National Higher Diploma in mining engineering
• Mine Managers Certificate of competency
• 10 Years hard rock mining experience of which 5 years should be at senior management level
• Applicable financial knowledge
• The ability to communicate and build relationships at all levels
• in the organization, and experience in managing large numbers of employees.
• Knowledge and experience in employee relations matters and strong people skills
• Computer literate at skilled level.
• Valid Driver’s License and medically fit for the position (Red Ticket)

Main Responsibilities, though not limited to:

• This is a 3.1(A) appointment in terms of the MHSA.
• Effective monitoring of mining operational processes.
• Contribute to overall safety, health and sustained profitability of the shaft
• Develop and co-ordinate short, medium and long term plan for the shaft.
• Provide leadership towards achieving challenging production and safety targets
• Ensure conditions underground are maintained at a high standard
• Decline shaft sinking experience
• Project management skills
• Package is in accordance with mine schedules and Historically Disadvantaged South Africans will be given preference.
