Occupational Medical Practitioner

The role

• Ensure that legal requirements related to Occupational Health and Occupational Medicine, standards and policies are adhered to by assisting with the development and implementation of cost-beneficial medical management protocols and by ensuring that Health care is in line with applicable health care guidelines;
• Evaluate, analyse, plan and coordinate the implementation of interventions to address the strategic and emerging health issues and opportunities e.g. collaboration with the mining technical discipline and engagement of external subject matter experts;
• Perform general medical duties as required, including clinical medical duties during and after hours;
• Perform supervisory duties within hospitals and clinics where applicable, including the supervision of
• paramedical services (e.g. radiography, rehabilitation, etc.) as well as to provide regular assistance to all nursing staff and other support staff functions;
• Assist the BU in managing and reporting on occupational health activities; Manage and coordinate any special occupational medicine programmes for example medical surveillance.

You will need

• Management skills
• Ability to display a healthy administrative responsibility
• Sound knowledge of Mine, Health and Safety Act
• Leadership, communication, persuasive, self-confidence and the ability to function in a team
• You will also need the skills to managing environmental risks, resources and opportunities; managing safety risks; managing health risks and promoting wellness; integrated risk management and assurance

Requirements

• Relevant Degree (MBCHB) and occupational medicine qualification
• 8+ years of relevant Occupational Medical health experience
• In possession of or be able to obtain a Medical Fitness Certificate
