Project Geotechnical Engineer

  • The Anchorage, Alaska office is seeking an intermediate level Geotechnical Engineer to work as part of a team on civil, geotechnical and geological engineering projects. The successful candidate will be required to organize field investigations, manage field monitoring projects, perform engineering calculations for the design of foundations and earthen structures, and prepare reports. Preference will be given to candidates familiar with numerical analyses and in particular soil-structure interaction applications. Assignments may include travel to remote locations worldwide and outside work in various climates.

Job Requirements:

  • Candidates should have a BS Civil/Geological Engineering and an MS in Geotechnical/Geological Engineering with between 5-7 years of experience in geotechnical or geological engineering is required, preferably with an emphasis on cold regions. Additional desirable skills include experience field logging of soil/rock and frozen ground; experience with geotechnical analyses for slope stability, settlement, thermal design, and earthquake engineering; general civil design experience, construction experience, or rock engineering; and geotechnical laboratory testing.
  • The Candidate shall have excellent verbal and written communication skills combined with a positive attitude and ability to work both independently and with groups. Candidates must be able and willing to travel to projects within the US and internationally. A willingness to perform a variety of assignments on short notice is valuable. PE/FE/EIT registration is preferred along with familiarity with AutoCAD.
  • Must be willing to travel to projects within the US and internationally and work at remote locations, including construction camps and rural Alaskan communities. In addition, must be able to work outside in various climates, including in arctic and sub-arctic conditions during winter and summer. Will be required to comply with all security, safety, health, and environment requirements at project sites.
  • The Candidate must be eligible for employment status in the U.S. and possess a valid US driver’s license. A pre-employment physical including drug screen and background check must be passed, and Candidate must be able to complete.
