Senior Metallurgist / Mineralogist

Activation Laboratories Ltd. (Actlabs) was established in 1987. We provide high quality contract analytical services covering analysis of geological samples using the most modern state of the art of technology. We are recognized throughout the world as a leader in analytical testing, development services and delivering quality analysis. Actlabs continues to grow globally with approximately 30 laboratories worldwide.
 
Activation Laboratories Ltd. is looking to immediately fill a senior position in our MLA/QEMSCAN Department.  For this position, the ideal candidate would be a highly skilled, self-motivated individual with strong communication skills that would enjoy the opportunity to work in a team-oriented, scientifically challenging work environment. The applicant must have excellent mineralogical abilities.

Education Required:    Minimum B .Sc or B.Eng. in Mineralogy or Metallurgy
 
Other Requirements:
  • Experience: 2-3 years in a scientific laboratory environment
  • Basic interactive SEM knowledge and experience
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Proven time management skills, take initiative
  • Quality driven and pro-active
  • Ability to work well independently and with others
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Work well under pressure
  • Proficient in using various types of computer software: Microsoft Word, POWERPOINT, EXCEL 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Operation of scanning electron microscope with energy dispersive x-ray analyzer
  • Achieving operator qualification on two (2) automated mineralogy systems
  • Provide timely analysis, interpretation and reporting of mineralogical data
  • Troubleshooting and maintenance responsibilities on said systems
  • Learn both MLA and QEMSCAN software and data processing schemes
